Abby Alley - Abby loves anything humanities related! She taught World History for middle school students for 2 years, and is currently teaching online at Williamsburg Academy while she stays home with her 18-month old daughter.
Dan Cross-Cole was hired as an Instrumentation Engineer and earned a Masters in Applied Physics while attending Johns Hopkins University (1974 - 1978). He served as an Electronics Engineer for the U.S. Navy (1980 - 2003), and was a Professor of Electronics Engineering courses at DeVry University from 2002 until 2013, where he served as Chair of the Network Systems Administrator and Network Communications Manager Programs . As Chair of the Signal Processing Sequence Committee, he worked on developing the sequence of courses for Signal Processing as well as a new course for building a Robotic Car.
Emmilu studied Music Education for her undergraduate degree, and later earned a Masters in Art Education from the Corcoran College of Art & Design. She has taught both private lessons and in public school. From 2009-2012, while working in the DC Public School system, she received first hand knowledge about S.T.E.M. programs and created a classroom environment that "Turned S.T.E.M. into S.T.E.A.M." She currently has three children, and is enjoying having a more flexible teaching schedule to spend time with them.
Karen is an architect who previously worked at the National Gallery of Art. She has 15+ years experience teaching art and drawing in DC area schools and tutoring programs. She is frequently joined by her well-trained service dog, Chas.
Marcela is a Native Spanish Speaker, born in La Paz, Bolivia. She has a Masters in Special Education and an undergrad in Psychology with a minor in Dance. Prior to becoming a homeschooling parent, she worked 6 years at Baileys Elementary for the Arts and Science as a Special Education Teacher for students K-5th grade. She enjoys making crafts, gardening, cooking, walking barefoot, and kitchen dance parties. She values cultural awareness, love of learning, and sharing what she learns with her two best friends--her children, and their friends.
Jodi is a writer, reader, mom, and English teacher. She has taught for 6 years in Utah then in Washington, DC. She recently had a baby girl named Kate and now stays at home with her while doing freelance writing. She loves learning and helping others to love learning, as well!
Virginia (Ginny), has taught Elementary School classes--including various grades and special education classes--in Fairfax County for over 20 years, and just retired in the summer of 2015. She loves spending time with her kids and family, and teaching!
